Destination: South to the States.
Who's in? Everyone is invited.

I haven't seen any post for the May long weekend (May 17-19) so I getting the ball rolling since it's approaching quickly.

Any suggestions for a destination down south?

I'm already going to be heading south for Riderforums.com's annual ROTR (Ride on the Ridge) running out of Hillsville, VA. The bikes are mainly ZR7's, Z1000's, Bandits, VFR's and maybe a couple of Meanstreak type bikes. Probably about 10-15 people riding each day.

Their group rides are on Friday and Saturday, so I am taking a leisurely, mainly backroad, 2 days to get there. Then ride through the mountains of VA, WV, NC, and TN for 2 days. And then take 2 days to get home.
I'm leaving on Wednesday morning and returning Monday afternoon.

Anyone is free to join in on this one as well.
The more the merrier.

yeah i'm going to run a south run for this one, 2 times we've tried to hit the mountains out on the adirondacks side has been crap, i think the regular south run is the best, 'cuz we don't need to think for it and we know the landmarks...

That almost looks like the route I will be taking. I'll post it up here when I get the chance.
Maybe I can hook up with you for the return leg of the trip, since I will leaving from Hillsville (just a little further south and west from Roanoke) on Sunday morning. I hadn't decided on the route home yet.

Here is my route down with an overnight stop in Winchester, VA.
Last year I took 219 through the centre of WV to return home. And detoured a little bit to stay the night in Altoona, PA.

day 1/4 are the same day 2/3 are a bit dif. i've already edited our route and can bring the laptop to show you guys at the next meet if you want, some new roads some of the same good ones...

Chiller, I am taking Friday off. I might head towards falling waters on day 1, then meetup with you on day 1 night or day 2 morning.

As long as I am not dead (from this crappy cold) by next Wednesday night, I will be there. I'm interested in where abouts you might be on on the trip on Saturday night/Sunday Morning.

well day 1 is almost always hagerstown, md, ... day 2 is usually roanoke, va .... day 3 is usually back up to frostburg, md and day 4 is home...makes it easy that way, we change the routing some per day but we know where the towns are and we know where the hotels are (usually stay at the same hotels)

On Saturday night, I will only be about an hour away from Roanoke. I can either join you guys there on Saturday night or haul my arse over there very quickly and early Sunday morning.

yeah either way works, is up to you, i try to have everyone up by 7am or so...loaded up in the parking lot and ready getting gear on by about 8am - 830am...

I hope you guys are planning another long weekend trip in the late summer. I would really like to join the group for a long weekend ride, but unfortunately I am fishing in Northern Ontario for the May weekend.
