A question for people who ride 2 up.
How the hell do you prevent your privates from being crushed?
I had to stop a few times because I couldn't take it anymore...
I've have tried the following:
1) tell her not to hold on so tight
2) tell her to try to sit back, because she is going to crushing my b....
2) using the rear brakes to shift the weight backward before stopping
3) ride a little faster than normal
4) sit as far back as I can
5) pushing back
You need to talk to the passenger about it. Ask her to use her legs to push on the pegs whenever you are slowing down, to hold herself off of you as much as posible.
She may be able to reach around and brace her hands on the tank and hold back that way.
When I ride 2nd I use my legs and hold the grab bar using my upper body strength to stay off the riders back.... the rest of the time I hug her tight!
Its difficult; depending upon the bike you place more load on your arms and legs,. You need to brace against it.
Maybe your, um, region is just that much bigger than normal? Although I think it is more likely a riding position factor
Braking will shift the weight forward, front or rear brake. The 2nd needs to work with you to keep herself from crushing you; it can be done, lots of riders have families!

I've only been a passenger on a few occasions. But I do what I can to keep my weight off the rider. Especially since I'm so gargantuan in size and weight.

I brace myself with my hand(s) on the tank when we're slowing down for a stop. And I sit back as far as I can, comfortably.

i ask my passengers to hold the gas tank, that works well

I would like to have my cake and eat it too...
Actually, I forgot about having her push on the tank. It worked last year, but her arms were really sore afterwards.

Tried this, but wasn't too effective. I think it's because of the peg position on the bike.

I forgot about this technique this year. Will have to remember it for next year.

No grab bars, just a seat strap.

Tried this, but it doesn't work for me.

For me, rear braking first helps a little but not enough.
Looks I have to do a review every year.
Thanks guys for your suggestions....
One more for you,
The rider should really pay attentiion to clamping the tank with his/her knees/thighs.
This should be practiced when riding solo as well it helps keep your wrists and arms from supporting all the weight of your upper torso.
i don't take passengers.. it's just not the same with a passenger.. can't lean as much.. can't break fast.. can't accelarate fast.. besides the responsibility.. etc.
i have the ocasional passenger.. like once a season or so..
glue some sand paper on the rear seat that will hold them ahha. my girl friend made her own technique. when we are stopping she sit further on the seat because i have a big back seat and puts pressure on the rear pags and i praise her for it haha and dont armoral the seat either it sucks bad. but i haveto agree there is no feeling like riding alone its 100 times better thats wut cars are for passengers.
